Valder Fields是Tamas Wells在緬甸北部的一個雨季里寫成的，當時Tamas正致力於一個社會衛生艾滋病毒/艾滋病的教育項目。他說，這首歌是一種意識流的歌，暗示在生活的責任（遵守時間，申請職位）與一種邁克.羅尼格(澳大利亞漫畫家 Michael Leunig) 式的生活計劃（在溫泉邊溫暖的泥土上睡覺）之間的壓力。Tamas建議說不要因為負擔太重或沒有負擔而使自己扭曲了事實。
